The 2010 Conclave was held April 23-25 at Camp Hahobas. The Service Council was Nisqually Lodge #155 of Pacific Harbors Council. There were 286 attendees including many special guests. Here is the Conclave Recap Video (you will be re-directed to YouTube) with a welcoming message from our 2010 National Order of the Arrow Chief, Brad Lichota, who encourages all arrowmen to attend next year's Conclave April 29-May 1, 2011 at Colony High School in Palmer, Alaska.
As mentioned, our VIP was the National Chief (pictured below right with Shows CVC Trip Jackson). Also in attendance were last year's National Vice Chief, Dan Higham, and the Section Chiefs from W-1E, W-1S and W-6P. The Conclave theme, "Climbing to New Heights" was well represented throughout the event including the opening show where several Section Officers described the theme and what it meant to them. T'Kope Kwiskwis Chief, Peter Husted, described the theme as the following: "we are at the peak of our Section; all we can do is to go up from here." Section Vice Chief, Ryan Cully, said: "we don't only meet the goal, but exceed the goal" and finally our Section Chief, Sam Giacalone, said: "we're reaching the pinnacle of what the Section is and what it can be."
The Teaquan Wask University was another great success. Adam Baughman, picture above, led the training team. Classes were held on many interesting topics including dynamics of leadership, motivational training, beading, native american storytelling, dutch oven food and cooking, planning a 50-miler and Arrowcorps5 Project. Three doctorates degrees were completed.
The memorabilia auction raised $7146.00 to help fund future Section programs. The highlight of the auction was a feather donated by Nisqually Lodge member, Julie Thompson, pictured left. The design was chosen by the Section Officers and it was similar to the design used for the Conclave patch. A few other items that went very well in the live auction were the mylar patch made to recognize Del Loder's Lifetime Achievement Award, a salmon jacket patch from Chief Seattle Council's 2005 National Jamboree Contingent, a blue mylar 1998 W-1B COC patch, the National Chief flap, Seattle Mariners and Sounders tickets.
At the Saturday evening show the W-1E Chief Taylor B. (right) gives a slightly shell shocked W-1N Chief Sam Giacalone (middle) two thumbs up for his two years of Service as Section W-1N Chief. There were 101 attendees at the non-denominational worship service held Sunday morning. Dave Wellman from Nisqually Lodge led the service and did a fantastic job. Later there was the Recognition show. T'Kope Kwiskwis received the newly crafted Section Spirit Award. Pictured above is their Chief, Peter Husted, receiving the award banner. Last year's recipient, Sikhs Mox Lamonti, was also recognized.
T'Kope Kwiskwis received the highly coveted Kirchner Memorial "WASK" Award for overall participation in Inductions and Ceremonial Events (ICE). Their Pre-Ordeal Teams #1 and #3 both received "Honor". They also fielded a Brotherhood team and two Honor Vigil teams. Nisqually Lodge won the website competition. The Section's highest award, the Teaquan Wask Award, went to Adam Baughman of Nisqually Lodge, David Henshaw of Sikhs Mox Lamonti Lodge and Jack Sergojan of Nisqually Lodge. The Conclave closed with a video showing highlights from throughout the Conclave weekend. Our new Section Officers look forward to putting on a terrific Conclave next year. It will be held April 29-May 1, 2011 at Colony High School in Palmer, Alaska. Talk to your Lodge Chief right away about joining the Lodge Contingent for our next Section gathering. |

Saturday afternoon activities included ceremonial evaluations, COPE course/zip line, archery, rifle shooting dodgeball, noodle war, silent auction and section museum.
